Sweden first saw Quit Your Dayjob at the Emmaboda festival 2002 and then the race was on. Releasing the single Pissing on a Panda and by touring cities around Sweden they got their first underground hitsingle and new freaks were born. Playing the toilets for a year, the Arvika festival then gave the band a spot in the limelight. Iranian refugee Abbass saw the concert, promised to sell his hat and release the minialbum Quit your Dayjob on his label I Made This. In August the same year the band released their first fullength album, Sweden We Got A Problem, on Bad Taste Records. Jonass, Marcass and Drumass then stuffed themselves into the Freakmobile, which oddly resembles a beat up Renault Kangoo, and embarked on the Europe We Got A Problem Tour 2005/06 which funnily enough ended in the US, with QYD supporting OK Go as they toured the states at the end of 2006.

Sweden We Got A Problem. Swedish punk trio's debut CD after a couple of singles and a self-titled mini album which came out last year. Since then they have toured Europe with the Hives and Turbonegro. Their latest project, Sweden We Got A Problem, contains 18 songs about being a freak and enjoying it! Some titles are 'Sperms Are Germs', 'Banzai Butterfly' and 'I Need A Tour Guide For My Own Head'. Says it all, huh?! Bad Taste.
That's a mantra that Sweden's Quit Your Day Job lives by. Their mix of punk and electroclash is a formidable one, but before the half an hour of the album is over, I'd be lying if I said it didn't grow pretty tiresome. She Male Godzilla" is a perfect example of this, as it repeats the same bass-like synth part for the entire song, and it doesn't grow on you, just annoys. I'm sure that the band isn't taking themselves very seriously with an effort like Sweden We Got a Problem, but just the same, there's some minor changes that could be made to make this a real enjoyable effort. In the end, it all boils down to just three words: Too much synth. European release only.
