Dream Theory in Malaya: Fourth World Volume Two is an album by Jon Hassell, released in 1981. It is the sequel to his collaboration with Brian Eno, Fourth World Vol. 1: Possible Musics, which was released the previous year. The recording draws influence from the culture of the Senoi people of Malaya

This album Dream Theory In Malaya (I keep wanting to type Dream Theater In Malaya, but that's another story), is the second, and lesser album in the Fourth World series. Like Possible Musics, this one has Jon Hassell playing his eerie electronically treated trumpet over tape loops and percussive rhythms. Unfortunately, this album does not have as much Eno, and has no Percy Jones. So while this album is still very good, it is missing some of the interesting qualities of the previous album. Still, this is a good album

First reissue of Jon Hassell's "Fourth World" masterpiece, originally released in 1981. Featuring contributions from Brian Eno, Daniel Lanois (U2, Peter Gabriel), and Michael Brook (Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan). Together they produced the classic 1980 album Fourth World Vol. 1: Possible Musics (GB 019CD/LP), before Eno charged headlong into "Fourth World"-ish collaborations with a new partner, David Byrne, on Remain in Light (1980) and My Life in The Bush of Ghosts (1981). Produced by Jon Hassell.

Hassell coined the term 'Fourth World' to describe his musical style, as expressed both in his trumpet playing and in his approach to composition. The distinct style combines the philosophy and techniques of minimalism with Asian and African influences and relies heavily on the use of electronic recording techniques. Played by. Juno Recommends Leftfield, Juno Recommends Ambient/Drone.

Hassell is best known as the creator of Fourth World music, an acoustic-electronic blend of minimalism, jazz, drone, ambient, traditional African and Asian instruments and harmolodic signatures. Hassell unveiled the concept on his debut album, Vernal Equinox, in 1978

Engineer, Guest Artist.

Titel: Fourth World:02 Dream Theory In Malaya.
