Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams is a 1993 tribute album that features a variety of alternative rock bands covering songs written by Victoria Williams. Except for Crazy Mary, which she was to record on Loose and This Moment, all these songs had been recorded on either Happy Come Home or Swing the Statue!
Sweet Relief is proof that the best of intentions don't necessarily guarantee a great CD. The first and foremost goal of this CD was to raise money for musician for Victoria Williams, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and had no medical insurance. The CD's songs are written by Williams and covered by some of the hottest "alternative" bands of the 90s. How disappointing, then, that the disc's inspired performances are the exception rather than the rule.
1993 tribute album featuring noteworthy alternative and indie musicians covering the music of Victoria Williams after she was diagnosed as having multiple sclerosis. The intention was to raise money to help with her health care costs and to start a fund (the Sweet Relief Fund) to assist other professional musicians with similar future needs. 랙 목록. –Soul Asylum (2).
The shear breadth and diversity of artists gathered for this benefit project, Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams, is a tribute to the affection Victoria Williams' peers had for her. It conveniently also makes for heady listening for any fan of contemporary music. The hard, brittle edges of Soul Asylum ("Summer of Drugs") and Buffalo Tom ("Merry Go Round") stand shoulder to shoulder with the country-folk of Lucinda Williams ("Main Road") and Maria McKee (an inspired and riveting "Opelousas (Sweet Relief)")
