More copies also showing up at retailer. Redeye for one has the first three LPs available
I'm a Russian Occupant
It’s available at the jazzman records store again, for 1/4 of the price what the flippers want.
Nice to hear a Garrick-free record by this band. I've heard enough of his stilted, contrived compositions and prissy piano playing. The other musicians are great, particular praise should go to Don Rendell for his masterly soprano sax playing.
I suspect Jazzman are going to do another pressing of this. They have not used the wording “sold-out” on their website (instead of “in stock” or “sold out” it currently lists this as “view”), which suggests to me that they intend to press a few more. So don’t feed the flippers!
And it’s sold out everywhere. Not surprised this being the most In demand of the set.
The wording on the Jazzman site says: "We located and acquired the original analogue master tapes from the Universal vaults and created masters at Abbey Road Studios." To me that says digital master / pressed from a file. Does anyone know?
The inner sleeve has the following info:"Analogue cut and mastering: Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios, London.""Equipment used included: EMI TG12410 mastering console, Manley passive stereo EQ, shadow hills valve mastering compressor, Studer A80".I'm not really able to decipher that and tell you if it is indeed AAA but it does look (and sound!) like they've invested a fair bit of effort into this project and got the best possible results with what was available to them. As others have said it really sounds fantastic!
Has the individual LP's been released yet ? my pre-order from Feb' is shown as temp out of stock on Amazon with Rough Trade saying it's not due till May 31st ?
Contacted Amazon yesterday to ask where my order was, could have grabbed it elsewhere but thought I was covered by Amazon only for them now to say it's temp' out of stock. Rough Trade UK are showing it on pre-order though with a date of 31 May
This happened to me with the box set and I waited instead of buying elsewhere. Eventually my order was cancelled and I missed out. I'm still not over it ha!
Its rolling out. Definitely a march release as far as i know. Juno, redeye & phonica for sure have sold out all of their copies already. Bent crayons over here in the US is sold out on this LP but has the others in stock. Theyre getting snatched up like crazy.
Got the reissue, the backcover is the one from "Dusk Fire". The "Dusk Fire" reissue that I also got states the right album. Is there anyone else with the same issue?
my version has the right back cover from Shades Of Blue
Will this release be drama free? Let's see! Hope not for the sake of those that never got the boxset.
whoop whoop here it be at last so fill your boots. http://www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk/don-rendell-ian-carr-shades-of-blue
This unoficial "bootleg" reissue has a very very wonderful sound
Re-issue expected later this year on Jazzmanrecords as part of a 5LP box set.
Seen the pics , they are with covers , coming out mid november
Hopefully not like Jazzman's Jef Gilson box set , without covers ...
Nice and only one reissue of this rare english record
BOOTLEG copy, do not buy, copied from a CD, not licensed
I have checked with publisher of Rendell Carr, MCPS, estate of Ian Carr and Don Rendell, and Universal. No sign of a license deal so far. BOOTLEG
Curious to know how I might get my hands on this?
Finally a repress of this beautiful album... one of the greatest jazz albums! Thanks
Ferri - My name
Gerald from jazzman has the tapes and plans to release these on his imprint. However no date set, could even take a few years.
it is a bootleg, do not buy it... do not pay money for this.
Doesn't Matter.. legal or not it's impossible to find it here on Discogs or ebay or... We can't find copies to buy.
Do you know if theres a legal reissue on its way? ????
This is a bootleg I think, do not buy it - wait for legal reissue
Is this a legally licensed reissue from Universal UK, the copyright owner?
Can you tell me who you bought it from please?
Billy Granson
Who did you buy it off? Who sold it to you?
One of the greatest jazz albums of all times! please make a repress of this beautiful album as soon as possible!
The track "Blue Mosque" is pure class, never mind a British jazz classic. Just love it, one of my favourite jazz tracks ever. At just 4:10 in duration, it's neither too long, nor too meandering, simply holding one's attention and interest to the last. Beautiful. FYI, the time signature is: 8 bars 4/4, 6 bars 3/4, 2 bars 4/4 – though it starts at the B section.
