Bob Marley and the Wailers (BMW) was a Jamaican reggae band 1974-1981) lead by Rastafarian Bob Marley (1945-1981) when Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer left the old band, The Wailers. BMW, consisted of Marley himself as song writer and lead singer, 6-7 regular musicians in Wailers Band and the I Threes backup female vocalists. It is the most prosperous reggae band ever with +75 million record sales, known for songs like One Love, I Shot The Sheriff, Natural Mystic.
Exodus is the ninth studio album by Jamaican reggae band Bob Marley and the Wailers, first released in June 1977 through Island Records following Rastaman Vibration (1976). On 3 December 1976, an assassination attempt was made on Bob Marley's life in which his chest was grazed and his arm was struck with a bullet, but he survived. Following the assassination attempt Marley left Jamaica and was exiled to London where Exodus was recorded.

With the bullet still lodged his arm, Marley demonstrated exactly why his street name was Tuff Gong, as he and the Wailers courageously put on a 90-minute performance in front of an audience of 80,000 fans, which mercifully passed off without incident. The next morning, Marley flew out of Jamaica and would not return for more than a year.
