Seed to Sun is the first solo studio album by Boom Bip. It was released through Lex Records on September 16, 2002. Mannequin Hand Trapdoor I Reminder" was released as a single from the album. Olli Siebelt of BBC called it "an album that is as experimental and cutting edge as anything in Warp's back catalogue.

Boom Bip's second album is pretty uneven, but the good songs it does have are very interesting. The rest, however, aren't as great.

LEX 006. Boom Bip. Seed To Sun ‎(2xLP, Album, Promo, W/Lbl). With its strings, it hints at 'folktronica,' but this album has more tricks up its sleeve. Third Stream" and "Closed Shoulders," for instance, are more abstract, the former almost jazzy in its insouciance, the latter reaching into Black Dog territory. But "U R Here" returns to the bucolic mood from earlier, and "Pulse All Over" takes it a step further, into pure ambience. The lyricists appear on "The Unthinkable" and "Mannequin Hand Trapdoor I Reminder" (which sees Doseone return with a jazz double bass to accompany him)

And listeners expecting something special from an unknown granted a licensing to the quality-control experts at Warp won't be disappointed by Seed to Sun; it's experimental hip-hop being done on a level reached by few producers out there. More experimental, rangier, and lighter than any Co-Flow material, but more producer-driven than Kid Koala's records, the album encompasses analog electronics, beat-heavy experimental techno, turntablist scratching, and dozens of mostly unrecognizable samples (one strain that briefly emerges from the soup: .

Avant hip hop noises from Boom Bip, now signed to Warp's experimental urban imprint Lex. Olli Siebelt 2002. Streets ahead of his previous work, Seed To Sun sees Hollon dipping in and out of a prominent West coast/California psychedelic acid vibe that seems to permeate most of the tracks here. From the Beach Boys on muscle relaxants opener "Heads Must Roll", to "Third Sun" which sounds as if a Herbaliser record took heaps of acid and stayed out in the sun too long, there's a real "back to basics" approach to the production on this release. Instead of following the crowd, Hollon spends a lot of time bathing in the analogue sounds of the 70s rather than the digitally.

"Roads Must Roll," the first track off Boom Bip's SEED TO SUN, sums up the album to a tee: strong rhythms, delicate musical sensibility. With its strings, it hints at 'folktronica,' but this album has more tricks up its sleeve. "Third Stream" and "Closed Shoulders," for instance, are more abstract, the former almost jazzy in its insouciance, the latter reaching into Black Dog territory. But "U R Here" returns to the bucolic mood from earlier, and "Pulse All Over" takes it a step further, into pure ambience. The lyricists appear on "The Unthinkable" and "Mannequin Hand Trapdoor I Reminder" (which sees Doseone return with a jazz double bass to accompany him). But it's tracks like "The Use of Unacceptable Colors in Nature" (with its live drumming feel), that stand out stronger. "Last Walk Around Mirror Lake" takes the album out on some Bibio-like guitar strums. Quite nice.
