This is probably the best version of Brahms' Hungarian Dances in the catalogue (although I find the Ivan Fischer one to be an excellent supplementation). The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under Claudio Abbado plays with verve and enthusiasm, and every single dance is well-nigh perfectly judged with respect to overall shape, individual detail, and spirit and energy.
