A full, four-channel (quadraphonic) system will reproduce the left front, left back, right front, and right back audio signals in each of four separate speakers. Discrete (4-4-4) formats. Discrete reproduction is the only true quadraphonic system. The original systems (DY & EV-4) were basic and suffered from low front L/R separation (around 12db) and a poor rear L/R separation of 2db. The decoders were designed more to give an effect rather than accurate decoding, which was mainly due to limitations in both systems, although as both systems were very closely related mathematically, users only needed one decoder of either system to play back albums of both systems.

Home theater and surround sound are great, but for some applications, a good old two-channel stereo receiver can handle the job. Check out these choices. If you looking for a two-channel stereo receiver for a small room has some home theater receiver like features without all the bulk or need for lots of speakers, the Pioneer Elite SX-S30 might be a good choice. Most Flexible With Subwoofers: Sony STRDH190 Stereo Receiver. A remote control is included for use around the house.

EQ CONTROLS: The sound amplifying device has crisp buttons for the audio sources and selector, rotary knob for equalization, mic and master volume adjustments. The sound is good but I didn't realize at the time that I bought it that it only had connections for 4 speakers. It looks really nice and everything works well except it does not pick up even one quarter of the radio stations that I listen to in this area. I live in a major metropolitan city and my previous stereo had no problems picking up all the stations with the small antenna included with it so I can only assume that there is something off with the way it automatically picks up signals.
