Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791), baptised as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, was a prolific and influential composer of the classical era. Born in Salzburg, Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty.

Johann Georg Leopold Mozart (November 14, 1719 – May 28, 1787) was a German composer, conductor, teacher, and violinist. Mozart is best known today as the father and teacher of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and for his violin textbook Versuch einer gründlichen Violinschule. He was born in Augsburg, son of Johann Georg Mozart (1679–1736), a bookbinder, and his second wife Anna Maria Sulzer (1696–1766). From an early age he sang as a choirboy.

Conductor: Claudio Abbado. Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Franz Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, et al. Audio CD (July 2, 2013). The Haydn symphonies included here - Symphonies Nos. 93, 96, 98, 100-104 and the Sinfonia Concertante that is labeled Symphony N. 05 - were recorded during the 1990s and feature the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, who are superb. This is sparkling, witty Haydn with moments of melodic suavity that are stunning. If you prefer your Mozart performed in the traditional fashion you may be put-off by this modern approach. If, however, you are an old hand at original instrument performances you will find Abbado's Mozart sleek and lyrical with none of the Romantic accretions that have marred earlier interpretations.

The life story of musical wunderkind Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has its origins here in Salzburg. His parents, Leopold Mozart and Anna Maria Pertl, laid the foundation for his musical career. His early death at the age of just 35 shook everyone, but especially his sister Nannerl. A wunderkind known as Wolferl. On 27 January 1756, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is born in the Hagenauer Haus (No. 9 Getreidegasse) in Salzburg. Mozart spends his youth as an honorary, and from 1772 as a salaried concert-master at the Salzburg court. In autumn 1773, the family moves into the house on Hannibalplatz, now known as the Mozart Residence whose address today is No. 8 Makartplatz. Break with the Salzburg Archbishop.
