If you're not familiar with folksinger Garnet Rogers - and if you live in the . you probably aren't - this is a good way to get introduced. See, for example, "Frankie & Johnny," one of the album's two live tracks. A song about brothers, one of whom dies and one of whom learns an important lesson, it rings so true you suspect that Rogers is really Frankie - and wonder how he could have made the story seem so real and personal if he's not.

Some live in vain and never love at all But as lightning strikes or as a small insistent voice Of we are blessed we will hear and heed the call. Give your love and never count the cost Lose your heart and never call it lost May your love be your shelter to the ending of your days Love is all that is, all that ever was. May your love grow strong and always kind May your hearts grow forever more entwined In the brightest day or the stillness of the night May it be each others hand you seek and find.
Kenny Rogers is the second studio album by Kenny Rogers from United Artists Records, released worldwide in 1977. The album marked his first major solo success following the minor success of Love Lifted Me in 1976. The album produced two singles. The first single, 1976's "Laura (What He's Got That I Ain't Got?)", peaked at This song was originally a country hit for Leon Ashley in 1967.
This album is often cited as the catalyst for folk singers becoming singer/songwriters and as a key influence on the music that would dominate the early '70s. Released in 1968, The Circle Game is a perfect song cycle, telling the story of a relationship from start to end. It established Tom Rush as a mature folk singer who'd moved away from the rustic blues of his early Cambridge days, and it introduced three then-unknown songwriters to the public arena. Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Jackson Browne all contribute songs, and Rush caps things off with his masterful original "No Regrets" (which later became a hit for The Walker Brothers). The performances are tasteful and highlight Rush's warm approach.
