A Tab in the Ocean is the second album from German-based English progressive rock band Nektar. English heavy metal band Iron Maiden covered the song "King of Twilight", also mixing in parts of "Crying in the Dark" creating somewhat of a medley, and released as a b-side to the 1984 single "Aces High". All songs written and arranged by Nektar. Roye Albrighton – guitars, vocals. Mick Brockett – liquid lights. Allan Freeman – keyboards, backing vocals, Mellotron.

Nektar is another of those great bands which their better efforts were released in the early 70&. In 1971 their second album named A Tab in the Ocean with a better and more challenging sound as their first album, giving us a blend of symphonic sound, an strong symphonic sound in my opinion, with also their nature psychedelic sound, a bit alike to their contemporary Eloy for example.
A Tab in the Ocean mirrors Nektar's first album, but only to a certain degree. While their sound still basks in lengthy keyboard passages and fantastic lyrics, the psychedelia is traded in for a more directional and established approach, with longer tracks and a tighter progressive structure. Both the title track and the 19 minutes of "King of Twilight" are Tab in the Ocean's best examples of Nektar's maturing process,.
