Welcome (Taproot album). During a break in their intense touring schedule in support of their debut album, Gift, Taproot went to Los Angeles to record several demos with Toby Wright. Those tracks were "Poem to Self", "Remain", "Get Me", "When", and "Transparent". Bolstered by their new recordings, the band featured "Poem to Self", "Transparent", and "Get Me" on tour during 2001, with "Poem to Self" soon becoming one of their most popular songs.

Gift is the first major label album by the rock group Taproot. It was released on June 27, 2000. I" and "Again & Again" were minor Mainstream Rock singles. The album has sold at least 250,000 copies. Described as a nu metal album, the album's lyrical themes are primarily about topics such as depression and disliking life. Taproot's vocalist Stephen Richards' vocals on the album Gift have been compared to vocalists such as Chino Moreno, Trent Reznor, Jonathan Davis and Mike Patton.

Welcome is Taproot's most successful album to date, achieving near gold status, with approximately 475,000 copies sold. After touring across the country on Disturbed's Music as a Weapon Tour, as well as a European tour, the band took a two-year break. On December 15, the band announced that the album was recorded and should be released in spring 2012. In addition to the new site, the band also revealed that The Episodes will be released on April 10, 2012.

Vocalist Stephen Richards does shriek a bit more than Layne Staley ever did, and Welcome offers some ideas that would have been out of place in 1993 Seattle, but they're not much different than what could be found on 2003 rock radio - a bit of Tool melodrama here, a dash of Staind's acoustic-flavored melodrama there. The fact that the group tried to do something different for them is notable but severely mitigated by the fact that they didn't do much different for anyone else.
