Heavy Jelly consisted of former AYNSLEY DUNBAR members and the drummer from The ANIMALS. The band recorded in 1970 their debut album. Heavy Jelly initially were a fictitious group that somehow became a real band. Because of contractual problems with Apple the album has never before been officially released until now. This long lost 1970 album has attained legendary status and has appeared in bootleg form over the years.

But the album "Heavy Jelly" was never really marketed commercially, and for many years (decades!) I remember hearing/reading about a rumored long lost album with sometimes slightly varying personnel, but always with Lomax as vocalist. It's a shame that it took Lomax' death to see this album finally get issued officially. well here is the long lost heavy jelly album that jackie lomax did back in the late 60s, this is well remastered and sounds great thanx to the folks at angelair records, this is a very good release if you where a fan of mr lomax this cd clocks in at 39 minutes over 8 tracks and all have a very early. 70s blues feel to them and some of these songs i could have easily heard in movie soundtracks back in the 70s but i guess in the case of heavy jelly that was not meant to be, its pretty sad that it had to take jackies passing last year to finally get this out to his fans, i love how bluesy.

Further upheavals followed, the projected album was shelved and the final blow came when Lomax accepted a solo recording deal.
