Charlie Parker With Strings. Written-By – Neal Hefti. 12. –Charlie Parker With Strings. What Is This Thing Called Love. Written-By – Cole Porter. Companies, etc. Recorded At – Apollo Theater-New York City. Bird At The Apollo ‎(Cass, Album). Charlie Parker Records.

During 1949-54 Charlie Parker often recorded and performed with a string section. This LP contains a cross section of Bird's live performances from 1950-52 and, although the string arrangements are the same as for the studio recordings, Parker's solos are quite a bit different. Pity there's no live version of "Just Friends," his most successful string recording. It's not quite essential music but worth picking up.

This is a list of Charlie Parker's recordings. Parker recorded extensively for three labels: Savoy, Dial, and Verve. His work with these labels has been chronicled in box sets. Charlie Parker's Savoy and Dial Sessions have been issued on The Complete Savoy Sessions, Charlie Parker on Dial and Complete Charlie Parker on Dial and The Complete Savoy & Dial Master Takes.
