Main article: LCD Soundsystem (album). James Murphy founded LCD Soundsystem during 2002 in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. They began by releasing a string of singles under DFA Records, which was co-founded by Murphy. They gained attention with their first single, "Losing My Edge", which peaked at number 115 in the UK. Described as "an eight-minute, laugh-out-loud funny. In October 2006, LCD Soundsystem released a composition entitled "45:33", as part of Nike's Original Run series. Despite its name, the track is actually 45 minutes and 58 seconds long-the title is a reference to vinyl speeds (33 and 45 RPM)-and was claimed to "reward and push at good intervals of a run". However, it was later revealed that this was not the case, but that Murphy.

I made ‘45:33’ for Nike and I don’t even jog. I said I did but that was a total lie. I just wanted to make a record like E2-E4 by Manuel Göttsching. I actually really liked the treatment they sent out because it was really specific: we want a 45-minute run, we want a seven-minute warm-up, we want a seven-minute cool-down, we need some peaks throughout, he told Pop Matters. I was like, this is actually awesome to have this list of crap that you’re supposed to do, just to keep yourself going. The studio hound created a mostly instrumental piece with six distinct sections that segued into each other. Murphy named it 45:33 after two different record formats, not its running time (which is actually 45:58)

Whilst the status of LCD Soundsystem’s 45:33 as a ‘classic’ is arguable, Dewey’s point rings clear, as it has received a beloved cult status in spite of being originally just sponsored content. Now ten years old, the 45:33 mix was originally released as part of the Nike+ Original Run series. LCD’s frontman, James Murphy, initially lauded the music’s connection to running and the project’s athletic credibility, When on tour our band LCD tends to do a lot of running - mainly to keep sane and resist the inevitability of turning into a bus-bound potato.

LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy was commissioned by Nike to write 45:33:00 as a piece of exercise music for part of their Original Run series. Murphy composed the track as a continuous piece tailored to the length and variation of a standard workout. In addition to its novelty, 45:33:00 is a brilliantly arranged and compulsively listenable track spilling over with the burbling, kinetic energy and gleaming production flourishes typical of LCD Soundsystem's work.

Premiering on 45:33, LCD Soundsystem’s (mostly) one-track composition for Nike Music, this song part is a wordless variation of Someone Great, the fourth track from the band’s second studio album Sound of Silver. 45:33 (Part 3)" Track Info.
