Beach Party is the debut album of the British Indie pop group, Marine Girls. The album was recorded in a home studio by Pat Bermingham and released as a cassette on his own In Phaze label in 1981. It was released on vinyl by Whaam! Records in 1981 and then by Cherry Red Records in 1987 and 2014. The albums Beach Party and Lazy Ways were reissued together on one CD with bonus tracks by Cherry Red Records in 1988.

Annette Joanne Funicello was born October 22, 1942 in Utica, NY. Her family moved to California when she was four years old, where she was later discovered at age 12 by Walt Disney as she performed in Swan Lake at a dance recital. Mr. Disney cast her for his new show, "The Mickey Mouse Club". Annette was a popular cast member and soon transitioned into music and film, quickly becoming a household name.
In 1963, Beach Party, the first official "beach party" movie, was released and became a box-office smash. It starred the most popular beach party couple: Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello. Oddly, Frankie always played a character named "Frankie," but Annette was inevitable dubbed either "Didi" or "Dolores. ) Frankie was already well into his twenties when the film was made, but played a "teen" for the next several years.
