Charlie Parker on Dial: The Complete Sessions is a 1993 four-disc box set collecting jazz saxophonist and composer Charlie Parker's 1940s recordings for Dial Records. The box set, released by the English label Spotlite Records, assembled into a single package the multi-volume compilation albums the label had released by Spotlite on vinyl in the 1970s under the series title Charlie Parker on Dial. The box set has been critically well received.
Charlie Parker On Dial, Vol. 6 (Spotlite (E) SPJ 106). Charlie Parker - Crazeology, Crazeology II - 3 Ways Of Playing A Chorus (Dial 1034). Charlie Parker, Vol. 4 (Dial LP 207). Charlie Parker - An Evening At Home With The Bird: Jazz Immortal Series, Volume One (Savoy MG 12152). Charlie Parker - One Night In Chicago (Savoy SJL 1132). Charlie Parker At The Pershing Ballroom Chicago 1950 (Zim ZM 1003).
As a leader, Charlie Parker recorded for Savoy and Dial during 1945-1948 and then for Verve exclusively (at least in the studios) during 1949-1954. This remarkable ten-CD box set, which adds quite a bit of material to an earlier ten-LP set, contains all of these recordings plus Bird's earlier appearances with Jazz at the Philharmonic. The JATP jams are highlighted by Parker's perfect solo on "Oh Lady Be Good," a ferocious improvisation on "The Closer," and a solo on "Embraceable You" that tops his more famous studio recording
