That November in Chicago, Gould s Orchestra Hall concert programs included Charles Ives s First Symphony. A few months later, it was captured by RCA s microphones the symphony s recording premiere! and went on to win the 1966 Grammy as Classical Album of the Year. Another high point of Gould s Chicago concerts and sessions came from his advocacy of Carl Nielsen. In June 1966, he conducted the orchestra in the Danish master s Second Symphony and, joined by Benny Goodman, the Clarinet Concerto. Putnam's Camp 5. Disc: 6 1. I. Largo 2. II. Allegro 3. III. The Chicago Symphony Recordings reflects Morton Gould’s exceptionally wide musical affinities. There is American music, including Gould’s own masterpiece, Spirituals for Orchestra, along with Aaron Copland’s Dance Symphony, which surprisingly had never before been recorded by an American Orchestra. Also included in the 6-CD box set are Charles Ives’ First Symphony, which won the 1966 Grammy Award® for Classical Album of the Year, and Carl Nielsen’s Second Symphony and, joined by Benny Goodman, the Clarinet Concerto  . Charles Ives, Robert Browning Overture. Disc 6: Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Symphony No. 2, Op. 9 "Antar". Nikolai Miaskovsky, Symphony No. 21 in F-sharp minor, Op. 51.

2, Robert Browning Overture & Putnam's Camp (with a really butt ugly album cover) Disc 6 hony N. & Miaskovsky/Symphony No. 21. These albums were released in the 60's during RCA's Dynagroove era (which was their next incarnation of Living Stereo). The sound on these CD remasters is very good. I'm sure they sound much better than the original LPs. The set includes a booklet of notes, tracks and recording info. It is refreshing to have a set of lesser known recordings by a great artist.

Although for Ives it was a purely posthumous work, the text of the Orchestral Set No. 2 has been long established, apart from some monkeying around by invasive conductors who handled the score early in its history. None among such changes are incorporated into the text Sinclair utilizes here, and the interpretation is clearer and more direct than many. Children's Holiday at Putnam's Camp.
